What to Pack for Your Kissimmee Road Trip Vacation

Sure, flying is often faster — though sometimes it doesn’t feel like it — but the classic road trip has its own benefits. If you’re planning a road trip to visit Central Florida and are staying at FantasyWorld, one of the leading Kissimmee vacation resorts, having a car gives you more flexibility, saves you money, and can create some fun memories. Plus, if you pack right, there may not be too many cries of, “Are we there yet?”

First off, you must have snacks. Hungry leads to grumpy and that leads to angry and we all want to avoid being hangry! Make sure you pack plenty of snacks that are a mix of healthy and satisfying. Fruits and vegetables (and maybe some dips to make them go down more easily) are great, especially packed in personal baggies so everyone has their own to avoid fights. However, the longer the trip, the more you might need to give in and have some fun treats, like string cheese, chips, and cookies. You know your kids and what they’ll happily eat and what they’ll really need to keep from melting down during a long car ride. Don’t forget juice boxes and make sure you have plenty of water. You’ll probably want a mix of refillable bottles and some disposable ones so that you don’t run out during an empty stretch.

Once everyone is fed and watered, the next most important thing is entertainment. Punch bug or slug bug may be an old favorite, but to avoid the need to break up fights, try to keep a good supply of individual activities, especially if there’s a big age difference. Sticker books, coloring books, activity books, and various toys let everyone do their own thing, depending on their mood. Look for as many quiet toys and activities as possible to help the driver remain focused.

Of course, the adults need some distractions as well. Load up your phone or tablet with podcasts, tv shows, audiobooks, games, and more and you’ll have plenty of fun ways to while away the time. Plus, some of the games may work well with multiple family members when you need to keep everyone happy. Just be sure you pack plenty of chargers so dead batteries don’t cause any meltdowns!

Long drives are not the time for restrictive clothing. Get casual and comfortable, while still being appropriate for stops for food, restrooms, and roadside attractions. Layers are ideal, to ensure everyone is happy temperature-wise, especially if you’re driving from a cooler location and heading to the warmer weather in Florida. You may want to pack some neck pillows and cozy throw blankets to make naps more comfortable. They’re a great way to pass the time.

In the category of things you hopefully won’t need but should have, make sure you have easily accessible safety kits for people and for the car. For family members, have a kit with bandaids, tissues, medicine for headaches and other aches and pains, car-sickness pills and baggies, and any other items you might need. For the car, make sure you have jumper cables, a flashlight, tire sealant, a spare tire and the necessary tools, and some multipurpose tools, along with road flares and/or safety cones.

Don’t forget the SPF and keep it on hand during your trip, especially if you’re going to have any windows down. You may also want some wide-brim hats to protect against any heat beating down on passengers in the back seat who are sensitive. Also, don’t forget your masks! They’re required in Kissimmee right now and they’re a good idea any time you stop along the way. Make sure you wash your hands and then use some hand sanitizer when you get back in the car, just to be on the safe side.

With these items easily accessible, your road trip to FantasyWorld, one of the best Kissimmee vacation resorts, should go as smoothly as possible. Create a roadtrip playlist, and maybe download some apps to check on traffic and alternate routes, just to be on the safe side, and before you know it, you’ll be at your final destination, ready for a wonderful vacation.
