Ways to Make a Long Flight More Comfortable

Traveling Tips
Packing light is one of the common traveling tips, especially as more and more airlines charge for checked baggage. Yet unless you’re traveling first class, it’s worthwhile to pack a few extra items that can make your flight a little more comfortable, especially if you’re traveling longer distances. These items still won’t make up for small, closely packed seats, but they may make things a little more bearable.

Sleeping on a flight is a great way to pass the time, but it’s not always easy or comfortable. The pillows you get on flights don’t offer much in the way of padding or convenience, which is why many people prefer a neck collar. There are brands that can easily be inflated with just a couple of breaths, so the pillow won’t take up space in your carry on. Look for ones with a fastener so that the pillow can wrap all the way around your neck. This is particularly helpful if your head drops forward while you’re sleeping and gives you more comfort, no matter what position you’re in.

A pashmina wrap is a great travel accessory, because it can serve as a blanket on the plane and provide warmth as a scarf when you reach your winter travel destination. Another option is one of the specially designed compact blankets that can wick away moisture, making them a convenient item year round, both on the plane and on the ground.

One of the most common traveling tips is to stay hydrated. Even if you drink plenty of water throughout the flight, your skin may still feel dry as a result of the air onboard the plane. Moisturizers help, as do hydrating facial mists. Look for ones that cool and soothe the skin, and can also make you feel more rejuvenated with natural extracts.

Whether you wear contacts or not, you may want to carry on some lubricating eye drops to prevent your eyes from drying out and feeling itchy and uncomfortable. Another option to make your eyes and the skin around them feel better is cucumber eye pads or gels. They cool the skin, make you feel more refreshed, and can help reduce any bags under your eyes. After all, you don’t want to lug around any excess baggage at the start of your trip!
