Traveling Homemade Baby Food

Traveling to Central Florida and visiting the theme parks, as well as the many beautiful natural attractions, beaches, and more, is something that plenty of young families enjoy. However, there are some challenges if you traditionally serve homemade baby food rather than commercial baby food. Fortunately, with some planning, along with staying at one of the resorts in Kissimmee FL like Fantasy World where you have a whole kitchen at your fingertips, it can be surprisingly easy to maintain your homemade baby food approach.

Depending on how you’re traveling to your destination, there are different ways to still stick with homemade, fresh food. For instance, on a relatively short flight or day trip, just take a banana, avocado, or pre-baked sweet potato, along with a fork and a container with a lid. Mash it up and instant fresh food for your little one. Even if taking fresh food through airport security proves difficult, you can usually find a banana or similar fresh food in the various stores and restaurants inside the airport. This method is also handy for day trips once you reach your destination. A cooler-type food tote is useful for baby and others in the family.

If you want to take frozen homemade baby food cubes along with you, plan ahead on how many cubes you will need for the whole trip. Arrange them in a cooler bag with ice packs and they should remain frozen enough for at least a six-hour journey without much thawing. Once you arrive at your resort, you can easily store them in the freezer — Fantasy World has a full-size kitchen in its vacation villas — and then prepare them as usual.

If you’re staying at Fantasy World, make the most of the kitchen and simply purchase fresh foods as you normally would and prepare them as usual. Pick up cereals of your choice, fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs, buying just enough for your trip. You can also pick up food for the rest of the family, ensuring some healthy, lighter, more affordable meals to balance out some of the richer foods you’re likely to indulge in while on vacation.

When you are flying, the TSA does make allowances for baby food. Medications, baby formula and food, breast milk, and juice are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. While these items will be inspected, and may be tested, you and your baby or toddler won’t be required to test or taste them yourselves. If you take frozen baby food, pack it carefully in a container that can be inspected easily, and check the container. Be sure to let the agent know that it contains ice and baby food.

Just because you prefer to feed your child fresh, homemade food doesn’t mean you can’t travel. Find resorts in Kissimmee FL, like Fantasy World, that feature full kitchens with all of the appliances you’re likely to need. It means you can prepare food on site if necessary and not have to pack and transport as much food, ensuring all of the food is fresh and top quality. Plus, Fantasy World has plenty of fun attractions and picnic tables on site so you can prepare food and still have a great time.
