Top Ways to Beat The Summer Heat at Disney

Most hotels in Central Florida have a pool to help cool you down after a long day at the theme parks, but if you stay at Fantasy World, a resort in Kissimmee FL, you not only have pools, you have an actual water park right on site! Along with all of the other amenities at the resort, a day spent at Fantasy World is a great vacation in its own right if you need a break from the parks. However, while you are at the parks, there are some ways to help beat the Florida heat. Make sure you follow these tips to stay cooler and healthier!

It’s important to make sure you drink plenty of fluids all year long, but in hot summer temperatures, it’s vitally important. The heat, humidity, and strong sunshine, even on an overcast day, can easily lead to dehydration and heat exhaustion if you’re not careful. Ideally, take along your own thermal refillable water bottles that keep cold water cold throughout the day. Take every opportunity to drink some water or electrolyte drink, such as when you’re standing in lines for rides. To help, Disney has added water refill stations throughout the parks, and most quick service food spots in the parks will give you free ice water.

Of course, there’s no reason that water can’t be washing down an icy cold treat. Dole Whips and Mickey Ice Cream Bars are huge favorites and just a few of the many sweet cold treats that will really hit the spot, especially if you find a cool spot to enjoy them.

If you’re spending the whole day at the park, it’s best to plan to be indoors during the middle of the day when the sun is at its worst. Fortunately, there are a variety of indoor shows, like The Country Bear Jamboree, Carousel of Progress, or Hall of Presidents, just to name a few. Schedule to be indoors in the air conditioning during the hottest part of the day to give the whole family a break. You could even follow a show with a nice relaxing lunch in glorious air conditioning to give you a break and help you miss some of the worst of the heat so you’ll be refreshed for your afternoon adventures.

In fact, when planning your visits to Disney, you may want to aim for the mornings and evenings and find alternate indoor activities during the main part of the day. When the sun isn’t beating down on you directly in the morning and evening, you’ll have more energy and stamina and won’t risk heat exhaustion, especially with little kids. There’s plenty to enjoy in the morning and in the evenings, and sometimes the crowds aren’t as busy, especially if you get there first thing in the morning. It will be worth the early wake up! Plus, in the evenings, there are parades, fireworks and plenty of special attractions, along with all the regular fun.

Of course, don’t forget to take along sunscreen and reapply it regularly. Wide-brim hats that protect the face and neck are also a good idea. With these tips and plans to make the most of the water park at the Fantasy World resort in Kissimmee FL, you’ll be having too much fun to be bothered by the heat.
