Tips for New Year’s Eve 2018 at Disney World

Choosing to stay at one of the resorts in Kissimmee, such as Fantasy World, during the winter holidays is a great first step to an amazing 2018. As well as spacious villas and plenty of onsite entertainment, you’re also ideally located to enjoy festivities at the major theme parks, especially New Year’s Eve at Disney World. If you’re planning on ringing in the new year with the Mouse and his friends, here are some handy tips to make the most of the big event.

New Year’s Eve at Disney is an incredible experience, but it can also be crowded. Fortunately, they put on a lot of extra entertainment to keep everyone happy without always having to stand in long lines. Parades, fireworks, characters, and shows are just about everywhere you look. Still, so are the crowds, so be prepared. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is one of their busiest.

If you’re going to be there for multiple days, go early and/or stay late. The crowds are at their lightest first thing in the morning and in the last few hours of the day. If you want to make a full day of it, aim for a very long, leisurely lunch around midday, preferably back at your resort, where you can cook up a nice lunch and then take a long nap. This will help you miss the absolute busiest part of the day. Afterward, you’ll be ready to head back to Disney World to enjoy the evening festivities.

If you are sticking around the park during the day, definitely get a FastPass+. Schedule it for use during midday when the lines are longest. You’ll get the most use out of it then.

The reality is that there are a lot of attractions at Disney World and it’s easy enough to skip over some just to ride the big-name rides. However, everyone else has the same idea, so give some of the less well-known rides and attractions a try. They’ll likely have shorter lines and are still plenty of fun.

As for New Year’s Eve, the crowds may be big, but the fireworks are spectacular and not to be missed. They’re worth every jostle and long line you’ve survived throughout the day. The Magic Kingdom does its fireworks display on the 30th, as well as the 31st. On both nights, they also show Holiday Wishes before the New Year’s Eve fireworks, Fantasy in the Sky, so don’t miss out!

As you make your plans for New Year’s at Disney World, book one of the convenient and comfortable resorts in Kissimmee, such as Fantasy World, be prepared for crowds and long lines, and have some sort of game plan on getting there when the park opens, and/or sticking around until the park closes. At the end of it all, you’ll end up ringing in 2018 in a truly magical setting.
