What Are the Best Travel Hack and Snacks for Young Kids?

29656350_S
Traveling with young kids can be a challenge, especially if air travel is involved. Parents want to be prepared for anything and everything to make the trip go as smoothly as possible. While there’s always a chance that something won’t go according to plan, if you’re travelling to one of the Kissimmee resorts this spring, here are a few travel tips and food ideas to get you through your travels. They can also come in handy when planning your outings to the many Florida theme parks.

Lots of parents don’t want to leave the house without snacks for their kids, in order to avoid hunger tantrums. When you’re preparing for an extended trip, by car or by plane, healthy snacks are a must. Kids – and parents – will be tempted by potato chips, candy bars, and all of the other junk food for sale in airports and gas stations, so it is important to think about the snacks you take with you.

Unless there are certain healthy snacks that your kids will always eat, consider mixing up your treats during travel to offer something new and exciting. Banana chips, pretzels, and even a small bag of chocolate chips can help lure kids away from real junk food. By including some special snacks that they don’t usually get, you can still keep them on a healthy track.

It’s also a good idea to avoid snacks that have the potential to create a mess. Anything that has to be spooned out or spread may not be the best idea in planes and cars. Your best bet is food that is bite-size and easy to eat with fingers. Mixed nuts, dried fruits, whole fruits, crackers, and pretzels are easy to pack and easy to eat no matter where you are. Even if you don’t usually use a lot of plastic bags at home, they can be a lifesaver when it comes to packing individual treats and keeping them neat and fresh. They can also be used to collect garbage neatly.

To avoid sticky fingers, as well as the possibility of picking up germs, pack some hand sanitizer and wipes. Travel-size packs of wipes are ideal so that you don’t have to deal with bulky packaging, and they’re great for those times when a bathroom isn’t close at hand.

If you’re staying at one of the Kissimmee resorts like Fantasy World, you’ll have plenty of activities and amenities to keep kids entertained. With the added bonus of your own kitchen, you can continue to put together healthy snacks and meals that you can feel good about giving your kids. Then you don’t have to feel so guilty about letting them splurge on some of the special treats the whole family is bound to crave at the theme parks.
