For many of us, it’s hard to believe that Walt Disney World Resort is now celebrating its 50th Anniversary! Plenty has changed since the gates first opened and now there are a variety of additional Disney theme parks in the area that will also be celebrating this momentous occasion. It’s Disney World, so you know there will be plenty of new things to see and experience. The World’s Most Magical Celebration – the 50th Anniversary at Walt Disney World Resort — will feature everything from EARidescent outfits to special decorations, merchandise, and more.

The Magic Kingdom Park originally opened on October 1, 1971, and the celebrations are starting October 1, 2021, and are continuing for a full 18 months! This means you have plenty of time to plan your vacation and be a part of this important milestone. You’ll notice the celebrations as soon as you walk into the park, before even reaching Main Street, U.S.A. Of course, there are plenty of decorations and special merchandise in the shops along the street, too. Then you get to the iconic Cinderella Castle where you know you’re in for something special. The castle is draped in elegant new colors and features a special 50th anniversary crest. Surrounding the castle entrance, you’ll find 50 golden mini character statues representing both old and new favorites, who make wonderful photo opportunities. Be sure to stick around for the evening display, because the castle lights up in a shimmering EARidescence that really brings it to life. There will also be nightly immersive projections and, of course, a fireworks show that will light up Main Street!

It’s not a celebration without some of the most iconic characters. Don’t worry, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, along with Daisy, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale will all be there, decked out in some fantastic new outfits to suit the occasion. Their new clothes are made of EARidescent fabrics with embroidered fireworks and touches of gold for some real glamour!

Each of the other Disney theme parks in the area will have some special anniversary elements. EPCOT has the new Harmonious fireworks display that goes beyond anything you’ve likely seen. It includes innovative floats, fantastic lasers, and dancing fountains that all complement the stunning fireworks. There’s also a new ride called Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Hollywood Studios has some of their own golden figures to spot around the park, not to mention some fantastic lights at night from the Tower of Terror. You’ll also find new foods to try and some new restaurants at the parks, so there’s more than enough to keep you in the celebratory spirit!
