Outdoor Things to do in Orlando

Thanks to the weather in Florida, it’s easy to find things to do year-round outdoors when visiting Orlando on vacation. Pick one of the resorts in Kissimmee FL, like Fantasy World, where you can enjoy outdoor activities, pools, sports, and more on site, and then take advantage of the resort’s convenient location to try out a number of other outdoor activities in the area. You’ll find yourself spoiled for choice.

There are plenty of waterways around Orlando that are ideal for paddling, boating, and fishing. Take in the scenery of cypress knees and dangling Spanish moss and you glide peacefully through the waters. Among some of the great places to head out on a kayak or other boating options are the Winter Park Chain of Lakes, Rock Springs’ Emerald Cut, the Juniper Springs and the Econ River.

While Central Florida is fairly flat, there are still hiking and trail options that give you a great opportunity to take in local flora and fauna. Orlando has some beautiful natural scenery just waiting to be enjoyed along a variety of trails and wilderness areas. Some areas are more open plan, so be sure to plan your route and take food and water with you — and sunscreen! — to make sure the outing is safe and enjoyable. Some places to visit include the 240-acre Econ Wilderness Area, the Turkey Lake Nature Trail at Bill Frederick Park, the relaxing Mead Botanical Gardens, the Orlando Wetlands Park, and the 7.1-mile loop trail that follows the St. Johns River in the Black Bear Wilderness Area.

For cycling enthusiasts, there’s no shortage of trails, and for mountain bikers, don’t miss Markham Woods and Lake Druid Park. For paved routes, check out  Little Econ Greenway, West Orange Trail, Cross Seminole Trail, Seminole Wekiva Trail, and Cady Way Trail.

Finally, what’s a trip to Orlando without golf. Florida is filled with golf courses and there are plenty in Orlando to enjoy. Check out the golf clubs at Winter Park, Metro West, North Shore, Dubsdread, Shingle Creek, and Hawk’s Landing, but contact them in advance to schedule tee times and check on equipment availability if you’re not bringing your own. Don’t forget that Falcon’s Fire Golf Course is just minutes away from Fantasy World.

These are just a few ways to enjoy the outdoors during your vacation to Orlando, while also getting to see the beautiful nature that visitors don’t always see. There’s so much to enjoy in Orlando, so be sure to take some time to get outdoors and enjoy the scenery. You’ll feel refreshed and recharged even after all of those activities. By choosing Fantasy World, one of the resorts in Kissimmee FL, you’ll be perfectly located to visit a range of outdoor attractions, even the beautiful Florida beaches. Just remember to stay hydrated and use sunscreen!
