Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Feb. 8 – May 31, 2014

Mardi Gras at Universal Studios Feb. 8 – May 31, 2014

It’s billed as the biggest Mardi Gras celebration outside New Orleans and the party that never stops: Mardi Gras at Universal Studios. This year’s celebration begins Feb. 8 and runs through May 31, 2014. It’s everything you’ll find in the Big Easy and more: dazzling parades, beads, music, entertainment and delicious food.

The parade includes breathtaking floats and street performers. If you have little ones, there’s a special viewing area just for them. This year’s parade theme is “Around the World in Eighty Days,” and the spectacular new floats will transport you to exotic locales and showcase various modes of transportation. And the traditional favorites – including Gator, Riverboat and King and Queen floats – will return. The parade starts at 7:30 or 7:45 p.m.; check the daily schedule so you don’t miss a minute of the fun.

The French Quarter Courtyard features live music and authentic Cajun food. Musicians from New Orleans will perform authentic blues, zydeco and more. Delicious dishes including spicy jambalaya, grilled Andouille sausage, shrimp gumbo and more will complete the sensory experience.  The Courtyard opens at 4 p.m. and closes at concert time.

An exciting mix of superstar performers are headlining the weekend concert series, include Daughtry on Feb. 8;  Barenaked Ladies on Feb. 15; Thomas Rhett on Feb. 16; Robin Thicke on Feb. 22; Foreigner on March 15; Lynryd Skynyrd on April 12; Kool & the Gang on April 19; and more.

After the show in the park ends, the Mardi Gras After Party (for adults 21 and older) cranks up at CityWalk, with more New Orleans-themed music, food and fun until 2 a.m.

Mardi Gras at Universal Studios is included with your park admission. It’s a great way to get two vacations in one: A trip to the world’s most popular vacation destination of Orlando, Florida that includes the experience of New Orleans.
