Kissimmee’s Newest Additions for 2022

Thanks to Kissimmee’s proximity to Orlando and the numerous theme parks, it has become a tourist destination in its own right. With the addition of resorts in Kissimmee FL, such as FantasyWorld, where you can have your own vacation villa, complete with a full kitchen, and a wealth of activities on site, spending time in Kissimmee should be part of your agenda. Plus, there are new additions to Kissimmee and surrounding areas this year to make it even more appealing.

Promenade at Sunset Walk  is a beautiful outdoor entertainment district where you can promenade among the variety of restaurants, shops, and entertainment. This year, there are some new additions, including Cowboy Chicken, BR 77 Brazilian Steak House, and Naples Soap Company. Promenade is the kind of place where you can find something for every budget and every taste. Plus, they regularly hold a variety of events throughout the year for added entertainment.

Wild Florida may technically be located in Kenansville, but it’s worth the drive to enjoy the combination of  airboat tours, gator park and drive-thru safari adventure! You can ride, walk or drive through the adventure of your choice, and experience thrills, adventure, and some incredible natural beauty that makes Florida so unique. This year, they’re also adding some new additions to the animal family with two rhinos coming this spring. Throughout the year, they’ll be hosting special events, such as Gator Week (May 23-28, 2022) and Sloth Day (Oct. 20, 2022).

Kissimmee’s location makes it ideal for a home base to explore the various attractions surrounding the city including all of the various theme parks. This year, a new theme park is opening up nearby in Winter Haven. That’s right, the Peppa Pig Theme Park is supposed to open later this month! The popular pig goes out of her way to make her theme park as accessible as possible. The park will open as a Certified Autism Center and offer accessible rides for guests who use wheelchairs. Everyone will be able to enjoy the six rides, six themed playscapes, a water play area, and more!

LEGOLAND is also offering some new rides, attractions and events this year. There’s the new Pirate River Quest that takes you on a journey through murky waters to retrieve a lost treasure. This theme park is also offering an expanded number of special events throughout the year, including LEGO NINJAGO Days in May, AWE-SUMMER in June and July, Heroes Weekend in September, Brick or Treat in October, and Holidays at LEGOLAND in November and December. They’re even hosting a Kids New Year’s Eve Celebration on Dec. 31, 2022.

Parks like SeaWorld Orlando are also adding some new rides and attractions. SeaWorld is getting into the rollercoaster game in a big way with their latest thrill ride, the Ice Breaker. This launch coaster features four airtime-filled launches, backward and forward, and if that’s not enough, it ends in a reverse launch into the steepest vertical drop in Florida – a 93-foot-tall spike with a 100-degree angle. Probably not for the faint of heart!

Of course, Disney World is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has numerous new attractions and events. EPCOT isn’t missing out, either, with the introduction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, opening later this year. This is another reverse launch roller coaster, but it’s a family friendly ride and includes storytelling as you rotate 360 degrees.

Kissimmee and the surrounding area are filled with plenty of new additions this year, so there’s no shortage of things to enjoy throughout the year. Keep your eyes on opening dates if there are special rides and parks you want to visit and make sure you reserve your vacation villa at FantasyWorld, which is a vacation destination in its own right and one of the popular resorts in Kissimmee FL. We look forward to seeing you this year!
