Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

It’s time once again for the annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. This year looks to be extra special as it ties in with Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebrations, so there’s plenty to dine and drink your way through at this year’s festival. Plus, if you’re looking for a convenient place to serve as your home base that also allows you to enjoy all of the other great sites and attractions in Central Florida, don’t forget to make reservations for one of the vacation villas at FantasyWorld.

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival 2021 is presented by CORKCICLE and runs through November 20, giving you time to make your plans. To start, there will be more than 20 festival-exclusive global marketplaces, with another 10 opening in the fall for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary.

As always, you’ll find a variety of kiosks with food and drink for all ages, representing countries and food traditions from around the world, as well as some American regional favorites. One of the great things about this festival is that you can eat your way around the world, trying the various appetizer-sized dishes and making a meal of the experience. Alternatively, you can eat just one or two actually as appetizers before sitting down to a full meal.

No matter which approach you take, know that each dish is carefully thought through and prepared by talented chefs who make the most of the ingredients, presentation, as well as the cooking process. After all, how certain ingredients are cooked is as much a part of the cuisine as the ingredients themselves in many countries. Furthermore, the chefs have chosen specific wine and beer selections as recommendations to fully bring out each dish for those who are interested (and of age, of course). Plus, there is something for every taste, be it sweet or savory, hot or cold, and they even have options for vegetarians and those who need gluten-free dishes.

Speaking of vegetarians, don’t miss the plant-based burgers and chili from Earth Eats, hosted by Impossible.

If you’ve started to explore international cuisine, then The Noodle Exchange will probably entice you with their traditional spicy Vietnamese beef pho, and their shrimp and coconut curry rice noodles. They recommend a Riesling or a pale ale to accompany these favorites.

For something perhaps less familiar, check out Tangierine Café in the Moroccan pavilion. The aroma of the blend of enticing spices will have you salivating and the grilled kebabs with couscous are sure to satisfy. They also have stone-baked Moroccan bread with hummus, zaalouk, and zhoug dips, and for a sweet treat, try the pistachio cake with cinnamon pastry cream and candied walnuts. As you indulge in these classic Middle Eastern dishes, try the recommended flight of cider to pair with them.

You may have been to Mexico, be it the country or the Epcot pavilion, but this year the Mexico kiosk has some new dishes to try. These include chilaquiles con chorizo and taco de ribeye, paired perfectly with a passion fruit sangria or an El Tigre margarita.

If you’re visiting later in the year, Spain has a booth opening in October, featuring mouth-watering Spanish-style paella, a seafood salad, and a charcuterie cone. They will be pairing these dishes with the new Estrella Galicia Cerveza Especial lager or the perfect wine flight.

Those are just some of the delicacies you’ll want to try. As always, there’s a scavenger hunt through the park, and this year, no surprise, you’ll be searching for Remy from Ratatouille.

To round out your experience — and relax after all of that food — head to the American pavilion and enjoy some great music by local bands as they perform classics from yesterday and popular songs from today, ensuring everyone has a great time. As you tap your feet and find yourself humming or singing along, you’ll be glad you made it to the latest edition of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
