Holiday Travel Tips

Whether you’re heading to Central Florida to see family or to treat the family to a special vacation, travel during the holidays takes some extra effort. Fortunately, just a little pre-planning can make a big difference. To make the most out of your trip, start by reserving one of the FantasyWorld Resort villas in Kissimmee Florida, with plenty of room and even a kitchen to include some holiday traditions or make some new ones.

In general, you want to make reservations for just about everything, and make them as early as possible. This includes any specific restaurants you may want to visit. This also goes for the theme parks, as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld are popular during the holiday season, meaning larger crowds. To make the most of your visit, reserve theme park tickets and make dining or event reservations well in advance. Don’t forget to set those alarms and arrive at the parks early to beat the crowds and take advantage of quieter mornings.

Although Central Florida’s winter is generally mild, the weather can be unpredictable. Pack layers to be prepared for cooler mornings and evenings, with warmer afternoons. Bringing rain gear is also wise, as showers can pop up unexpectedly. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes if you plan to spend long days exploring parks or other outdoor attractions.

The holidays also mean busier roads, especially around Orlando. If possible, avoid peak travel times, such as mid-morning and late afternoon. Allow extra time for travel between destinations and use navigation apps to find the quickest routes. In fact, make the most of the variety of apps available for the theme parks, dining, weather and more.

If you’re flying, arrive at the airport even earlier than usual, as TSA lines can be long during holiday periods. In addition, it’s a good idea to pack gifts in carry-on luggage to avoid the risk of a checked bag – and your gifts – getting lost. Remember not to wrap the gifts in advance, though, as they could be unwrapped if there’s an issue at security. If you’re packing any food, or even unusual gifts, you should check the TSA website before you go to see what is and is not allowed.

If you’re driving, make sure you get a tune up before setting off. It’s also a good idea to pack a bag that is just for the drive, including snacks, medicine, games, and other items that may be needed along the way. This makes everything easier to find.

With careful planning, a trip to Central Florida during the holidays can be a magical experience. Start the trip off right with one of FantasyWorld Resort’s vacation villas in Kissimmee Florida. A little preparation will help you have a stress-free and memorable holiday getaway.
