Free Attractions in Kissimmee, FL
There is no shortage of fun things to do in Central Florida – and even better, a lot of those fun things to do are free. If you’re planning to stay in one of the great vacation homes near Orlando FL, you’ll want to know about some of the free attractions in Kissimmee.
• Old Town Shopping, Dining and Entertainment Complex. Admission is free and the people-watching is a blast. Friday nights feature the All American Muscle Car Cruise with classics from 1988 and older. On Saturday evenings, people line the sidewalks to watch the Saturday Nite Cruise, a parade of pre-1975 hot rods, street rods and antiques. Other themed seasonal events are hosted throughout the year. Within the complex are plenty of restaurants, attractions, games and shopping.
• Downtown Kissimmee. Take a stroll through the city’s historic downtown. Stop in at the Osceola County Courthouse, built in 1890 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s one of the state’s oldest courthouses and is the only one in daily use since it opened. Enjoy the Kissimmee Sculpture Experience, the Monument of States and Lakefront Park.
• Lake Lizzie Natural Preserve. A 918-acre nature preserve that’s one of Florida’s best sites for hiking, horseback riding and nature viewing. Marked trails wind through a variety of habitats.
• Lake Tohopekaliga. Bring your fishing gear (there’s plenty of room to stash it in vacation homes near Orlando, FL). Lake Tohopekaliga (known to the locals as Lake Toho) covers 19,000 acres, spans 42 miles in diameter, and is world-renowned for its bass fishing. You can picnic along the water’s edge. Or check out East Lake Toho to spend the day on the lake’s beach with a playground and lakefront fishing spots.
