Don’t Miss Epcot’s Super Child-Friendly Festival of the Arts

While Epcot may not have as many rides as Disney World and may seem to appeal more to adults than younger children, things are changing. Epcot is getting something of a makeover these days, updating and adding to their attractions, with special events to appeal to all ages. While the International Food and Wine Festival may be more adult oriented, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts is super child friendly, but ultimately fun for all ages. Book one of the Fantasy World vacation villas in Kissimmee FL right away to get in on this amazing experience.

Running now through February 24, 2020, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts features interactive workshops and exhibits, scavenger hunts, photo ops, live artists, new films, plenty of tasty treats, and much more. Among the attractions are living statues and special character meet and greets. Be sure to pick up a time/location guide on your way into the park.

Even the food is fun and fantastic. There are plenty of special outdoor kitchens where you can find food to appeal to all ages. Plenty of the edible creations are works of art in their own right, such as rose-shaped panna cotta. The festival passports, found at all merchandise and food locations, include the full special menu. The passport also includes information on the Wonderful Walk of Colorful Cuisine food tour, with a list of five items to try. Once you’ve ordered all five, have a cast member stamp your passport. In return, you get a sweet treat at the Decadent Delights booth. Best of all, you can order the items over multiple days, rather than having to do it all in one day.

While you’ll find plenty of live artists working throughout the park during the festival, offering up opportunities to see them create real works of art, you can also participate with the paint-by-numbers mural. This is a popular event for the whole family, getting to leave your own mark on the show.

The lovable dragon Figment also gets in on the fun, showing up in various famous works of art around the World Showcase. For $8, you can pick up a map at most merchandise locations throughout Epcot, and search for Figment in the paintings. Get a corresponding sticker of the country pavillion where you find him and when you’ve found all of his locations, you can redeem the map for a prize at World Traders in World Showcase. Of course, Figment isn’t the only one working his way into famous works of art. You’ll find plenty of booths throughout the park where you can insert yourself into famous works for fun photos!

If you have older kids who really enjoy art, consider enrolling them in one of the hour-long interactive workshops. While they do cost $45 per person, you get fantastic experiences and opportunities. For example, one workshop teaches you how to paint your own animation cel, the thin piece of film used in animating cartoons. What a fantastic memento to take home!

At the end of the day, don’t forget to head to America Gardens Theatre to check out the Disney on Broadway concert series. Broadway performers who have starred in a variety of Disney shows perform plenty of crowd favorites and put on a spectacular performance.

Finally, don’t miss the three new films launched as part of the Festival of the Arts. One is a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along in the France pavilion. Awesome Planet is a film showing a wide range of stunning images from across Earth’s biomes. Finally, there’s Canada Far and Wide in Circle Vision 360 in the Canada pavilion. Even if you can’t make it in time to attend this year’s Festival of the Arts, these films will continue to be shown at Epcot, so you can see them whenever you plan your trip. Be sure to book one of the Fantasy World vacation villas in Kissimmee FL for more fun for kids of all ages.
