Space-saving Hacks for Packing Your Suitcase

Resort in Florida
Reservations are made to your favorite resort in Florida. Schedules are planned for which theme parks to visit and what rides to try first. You’re all ready for your big family trip to Central Florida, but there’s one thing left to do: pack. You want to get everything in, but you also want to leave space for the inevitable souvenirs. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your packing.

Jewelry management
Necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets may seem like small, last-minute things that won’t take up much space. But when you get to your destination, it’s easy to find tangled chains and missing earrings. One way to manage smaller items like rings and earrings is to use pill case compartments. Threading necklaces through straws can help prevent chains from tangling, or you can press your jewelry between sheets of press-and-seal plastic wrap.

Shoe storage
Even summer vacation shoes inevitably take up space in your luggage. They also have the potential of getting your clean clothing dirty and maybe a bit smelly. One way to protect your clothing is by fitting your shoes into a shower cap. Alternatively, if you’ve got some plastic shopping bags, wrap the shoes up in a bag, which can also help prevent odors from spreading.

Fabric roll
You’ve probably seen videos and presentations over the years on the best way to pack and one of the most popular suggestions is to roll your clothes. This method really does work and you can fit more clothing in than simply folding. Rolling your clothing, if done neatly in the first place, doesn’t cause any more creasing than regular flat packing.

Avoid messes
Makeup and toiletries are small items with a big potential for major mess. To protect your perfume, stick it inside a pair of thick socks for extra padding. Blush and eyeshadow compacts inevitably seem to get cracked and crumble. To protect them, put cotton balls or pads inside. When heading your resort in Florida, like Fantasy World where there’s an onsite water park, you’re going to need plenty of shampoo and sun screen. These products have a tendency to burst or ooze out in flight, but if you cut a small square of plastic wrap and place that over the opening and put the cap back on, you should have an effective seal.

By following these tips, you’ll find that not only will you have more space, you’ll find everything safe and clean when you arrive at your destination. You’ll be ready to hit the ground running and enjoy your exciting vacation.
